Re: Beijing 2008
It was great!
The man running around the outside was just brilliant...
Some of the cotumes of the nations were a bit strange, but we have to respect their culture.

Re: Beijing 2008
it's quite funny how they praise the Buddhist religion but back when the Buddhist movement started the Chinese rejected it and persecuted the Buddhists and they still do "free Tibet" and all that jazz
Re: Beijing 2008
I expected the show to be great, but this was just awesome! I loved the part when all the Chinese showed us some high level Tai Chi I hope the Olympia will be a good one, enjoy it!

Re: Beijing 2008
I'm watching the gymnastics section now
South Korea keep falling off, they're having no luck.
Britain did well, but the best so far are, Belarus, Germany, China and Japan.
These games are going to be great!

Two men had to be escorted out of the dressage arena for protesting against democracy.
Re: Beijing 2008
First gold medal for Spain! looking forward to get some more... we wanna beat our 22 medals record (Barcelona '92)
about the opening, yeah, it was awesome. I was petrified... but we must not forget one thing: people around the stadium are living in a dump, in slums. The Chinese wants the "poor" people not to get close neither to the stadium nor to the places taken over by the media. They don't want to show China's hidden face.

Re: Beijing 2008
Absolutely. they demolished houses to make the stadiums...
I was half expecting the Olympic chairman guy to suddenly say "Oh, and let's not forget about tibet."
he probably didn't because of the whole rhyme thing...

Just read in the newspaper that an American tourist got killed by a Chinese guy who killed himself after that
Re: Beijing 2008
yeah, but things like that happen all the time. they're only publicizing it because of the games.

Re: Beijing 2008
It's simple. The Olympics are the countries of the world coming together to participate in nearlly every sport.
It sohuld be left that way, but because of poilitics, democracy etc. It will never be that way.

Re: Beijing 2008
That will be good, very surprised that's in the olympics, but then again, I think it should contain all sports.
Snooker, golf, Motor Racing (special Olympic cars)... Would be good
